As per the numbers provided by the Indian Staffing Federation (ISF), the quarter-on-quarter growth in the number of jobs under the ISF members went up by 6%. The rise happened on account of a very strong festive season (India celebrated Diwali in October, and the festival is always preceded by lots of shopping). Even general staffing grew by about 7.3% in the same quarter owing to increase in demand in e-commerce, manufacturing FMCG, logistics, hospitality and financial sectors.
Earlier this month, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) had published data for the first half of this financial year (India observes financial and fiscal year as April-March), i.e., period ending 30 September 2022, which indicated 35% more job creation, as compared to the same period of the past financial year. While the world reels under growing fears of recession, India was referred to as “the bright spot” on the dark global horizon due to its resilient economy.
